One of our core values at SummitRDU Worship is that our singing should be congregational.  I wanted to share this video because it highlights this same truth but from a perspective and style quite different from the Summit.  The guy in the video says that we should not think of our church as a “concert hall”, but as “a banquet hall where we come to participate in something together.”  This is something I need to be constantly reminded of.  It does not matter how tight the band is, how professional the musicianship is, or how fancy our production is, if the congregation is not participating then we have missed the point.

From the Summit Worship Blog

This is so true. What is the worship at your church like?

New song i just recorded it, just a demo, real messy. hope ya like.

sailing forward, raise the mast, making progress, to not look back

day and night we, feel so free as god is breathing across the sea

darling you can take what you need,

what you want is what i try to be

you should know that i will never leave

cus i am the pirate of your dreams

orange horizons and salty air, become average but I still stare

thinking of you and how we’ll meet, are you ever thinking of me?

darling you can take what you need,

what you want is what i try to be

you should know that i will never leave

cuss i am the pirate of your dreams

Went to Vintage 21 to see Thad Cockrell’s new band Leagues this weekend. They were really tight and had a good energy. They’re working towards recording an album sometime soon and I can’t wait to hear it.

Check out some more pictures on my flickr + here’s a clip I shot at the show.

Mixing Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" - Inside the 16 Track Master Recording

fieldmic:

(via @chrisfahey) A fascinating look (and listen!) into the studio recording of “Superstition” in which there are only 16 channels in the mix: 8 channels of Clavinet, 1 channel of bass, 3 channels of drums (kick, overheads left and right), 2 channels of vocals, 2 channels of horns.
